Lyndon Darren Espanto is a Filipino – Canada singer. He was
born in Calgary May 24, 2001. Starting singing at the age of 3 years, and the
competition for the first time at the age of 10 years. He won the Masters
Finals of the competition Pinoy Singing Sensation in Edmonton. At that age,
also his first appearance on television when he joined the YTV’s reality
television The Next Star in 2012. He became the youngest finalist in the
history of the event, then put in the best 6. However, he became very prominent
after joining The Voice Kid Philippines first session. In August 2014, Espanto

Espanto release first full-length self-titled album "Darren" in December 2014. Occupying the first rung on the Philippines charts Apple iTunes Store and Astro, the album is now certified Platinum. Month of May 2016, he released his sophomore album titled “Be with Me”, featuring the single "7 Minutes", followed by "Starlight" and "Parachute". Who also became number 1 in the Philippines charts Apple iTunes Store following its release.
Espanto is the first child of the Philippines couple Marinel Gonzales and Lyndon Espanto who emigrated to Canada from Nueva Vizcaya. His parents taught Philippine languages, particularly Tagalog. Espanto started singing at the age of 3 years, and parents supported his dream. As a toddler he was often at the lullabies with songs Hakuna Matata from The Lion King, which caused him to have the potential to sing and his parents decided to hone his raw talent.
At the age of 12 years, Darren attend 6th grade at St. Jude Elementary
in Calgary, before traveling to the Philippines to audition for The Voice Kid
Philippines (2004). After the audition, she returned to Canada to continue
tests in St. Cyril School, before returning to the Philippines. He, along with
the other finalists of The Voice Kid receive a 350,000₱ scholarships from Eton
International School.
